Beath of Gold Brooch Article

I've just realised I never did show you my Breath of Gold Brooch! There is a step by step tutorial of how to make your own published in the Wind Edition of 'From Polymer to Art' published in March 2013. I was recovering from Synergy when it was released which is how I forgot to show you!

I have some beginners workshop in Bristol, UK this  month and a more advanced 'little ball of flowers' pendant workshop which will take place on Saturday 27th July in North Wales.  I am just sending details to people on my mailing list now. If you would like details too please get in touch - or sign up to my mailing list of course!

Don't forget you can find this blog over at www.carajane.co.uk/blog - it gets update before this blog does.

New owls

Owls are still very fashionable it seems, which is cool cause I love them! I have just added an owl brooch and an owl keyring/charm to my owl repertoire. Here they are

The earrings are my earrings for this week in the pair of earrings a week challenge.

So owls can now be little ornaments, pendants, keyrings, charms, brooches and earrings - what next I wonder? If you've got a suggestion do let me know!

Lovingly Handmade Hearts

Along with the heart earrings I also made some brooches. These took a bit longer to finish as I discovered I didn't have any badge backs the right size, didn't think about that when I started making them! I forgot to take a picture of the back which is a shame as they are very neatly finished. I will try and show you another brooch back when I have made some more. They were lovingly hand polished to a glass like shine with wet and dry sand paper and then micromesh polishing cloths.

They have gone off to Tenderfoot, a wonderful local gift shop that sells handmade treasures made in Bristol.

Are you thinking about Valentines day yet? Are you a fan of Valentines day? I like the sentiment of it and will always make a card for my husband and write a note to remind him how special he is to me but I am not big on the commercial side of it. We don't do flowers or gifts (unless it's a special little handmade something) or going out for over priced meals!

Purple plastic flower brooches

I started making these brooches back in July 2009 but they have been sat waiting to be finished since then.
They are made from shrink plastic and then painted with acrylic paint. They are about 6cm in diameter.
Finally they are finished!

I've finished and used the buttons (well 1 of them ;)

Anyone who knows me will recognise the power of the blog - I am not one to finish things as a rule. So this week I not only made some buttons but I finished them (sanded and buffed - they came up pretty good) and then made a brooch using one. Here it is

Felt flower brooch with polymer clay button

I am thinking about making a blog about the rest of my life as this one seems to be a very good motivator (I don't want to bore you all with the state of my house or why I can't get out of bed in the morning...)

My daughter who will be 4 next week is sat on one leg whilst I write this. She just said, "I want to make one of those!" So off to get the felt out again!
